1 Kings 5:17 - "And the king commanded them to quarry large stones, costly stones, and hewn stones, to lay the foundation of the temple."
It is interesting to me that the king commanded that costly stones be used for the foundation....which no one would see or appreciate.
Why use costly stones?
Hebrews 4:13 says, "There is no creature hidden from [God's] sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."
God sees all things....even the foundations. Solomon understood this, and so he used costly stones from beginning to end. This temple was to be made for the Lord, and not for man.
I hear also the Spirit's voice in saying that our King commands that the foundations be laid with costly stones. The work of character and spirit begins in the quiet place, which no one sees but God. It is here that God commands that a work fashioned with costly stones must be completed....a precious work of value and effort.
I am reminded and exhorted to place effort once more in the quiet place of devotion before God, that I might receive His placing, that a work of value might be created, and that He who sees all will express pleasure on that day I am to give account.
